The History channel and BBC Worldwide announced today that Top Gear US has been picked up for a second season. Production will begin this spring and the hosts will remain the same, a decision that we agree with. Over 60 million people tuned into the first season of the show which is a very respectable number.

Clarkson says he’s happy about the announcement:

"Top Gear is our baby so you can understand why Hammond, May and I were anxious about passing it on to the presenters of the US show. We needn’t have worried because Top Gear is clearly in safe hands, even if they do insist on speaking in those stupid accents. Watching an episode from series 1 with Richard and James, we found ourselves in a genuinely heated debate about which of the presenters’ cars was best. We were just three ordinary chaps watching a car show and loving it, which is exactly what Top Gear should be. Bring on series 2."

I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.

It's his annoying voice and for the love of all that is television for a comic he sucks at improving a script.

Rutledge: This is Car. It has 205 horespower. It has a lot of torque for getting up hills. Blah. Yadda. Yah. C'mon why wouldn't you like it.

Me = annoyed

Plus he acts like he knows everything. Really? Ugh.

Oh well.

personally i rather enjoyed the first season, i was a bit skeptical because what makes top gear great are the guys that host it....i dont think the americans did that bad a job, tanner and adam were great, but im with chi on this, rutledge has gotta go...i petition that if they want a big, funny, power obsessed guy that knows his cars...that i replace rutledge...so whos gonna be the first to sign my motion?!

Ah. Reminds me of the day when racing was dangerous and sex was safe.

I'll be honest.. if it ain't dangerous what makes it a sport?
