Well i own a 1987 gti 16v and well it is actually starting everyday for once... well the rpmss strugle from 1000rpm to about 2000rpm and then it shoots up to 5000rpm then it struggles again and also when i am in 3rd for instance and i stompon it it feels like it boosts then stops then again and it is really annoying i just put 500 into in the last 2 weeks. any ideas what i can do??

A little off topic but I know a guy who is selling his 87 GTI 16v for $2k. It runs fine just has a bad tranny. He put in new A/C and brand new 16 wheels and tires. If youve got a good tranny in your ride you could drop it into this one and have an awesome car. I havent actually seen it but if you want more info or if you want to see the car contact me. Sounds like you might have a vacuum leak . try looking at you vacuum lines and replacing any if necessary . or you can take it to VW and they can do it for like 500 bucks.
