4AGE 20V -> 93 Celica. Anyone wanna help?
I've had this car for a couple years now and have had good memories with it.. so many times tearing the engine apart and putting up with her bs when I really didn't want to. I can't part with her for any price worth the pain she's put me through so I'm going to need to do something drastic.
I'm sick of the 4AFE. It's given me nothing but trouble since I've owned the car and I blew way too much money rebuilding it when I should have swapped in the first place.
I can get an AE111 clip which includes the 6-spd transmission for around $3000 shipped and am trying to decide whether or not I want to go get the loan to buy it. I'm really starting to think it'd be more than worth it.
Anyhow, does anyone here know anything about this swap? I have a writeup from a guy who did a 20V silvertop swap, which is pretty comprehensive but does not have any wiring instructions. I believe I could figure out everything but would have some trouble with wiring. Could any of you help me out in this area? I can get my hands on the AE111 wiring diagrams and ECU pinouts very easily (actually, the whole BGB-- found it online).

Thx JC I'll keep that in mind. I really want the 6spd though, closer ratios = tons of fun especially at high rpm
I was more specifically talking about being able to get in touch with one of you guys if I was in the process of swapping and a wiring question came up. Club4ag is a great place though, I've done a lot of research there.

Shit that would be cool to put a 4a into the st mike. But its not really worth it. THink about it celica is a heavy ass car, 4a 20v isn't that strong to push around a st. Your better off letting sean handle your swap and making new mounts for a 3s. I know how you feel about your st. I feel the same way about my GT. I'll get rid of my swap before I'll get rid of my GT.

Yeah I know what you mean about the 3S and I really wouldn't mind having one. But I'd have to convert to M/T, find an E153, replace the clutch and crap, do all the maintenance I'd have to do on the 4AGE and some more, and then pay for a crapload of labor cause I can't do the mounts.
Then I have to worry about matching the paint on my car with the Alltrac hood, if it even comes with one in good condition, which would be uber hard to do. I'd probably spend like $2-3k extra when it's all said and done for the 3S. I could always go for a 'slownrusty' type setup later on if I want more power
Unless I can get like a kickass deal on labor I don't think the 3S is really an option right now. I'll probably use the 4AFE until the thing dies or something and then swap a 3S, cause Jarco won't even look for another AE111 clip unless I prepay them and then it could be MONTHS before they even locate the car.

no you prob can't get 20v's cheaper...like i stated in club4ag...nobody i've seen includes the fusebox, ignitor, coil, starter and everyone agreed...sometimes the flywheel, no warranty (from day of arrival) and so on...
please send that e-mail again, if i didnt reply already i prob looked it over or it came to my spam box...also, nobody else actually helps you thru the installations like i do hence why i sell so many engines.
