Default Drag and track tires

Im also interested in hearing opinions on tires suitable for drag racing and separately, ones suitable for the track. My street tires are Sumitomo HTZ III 275/35/18's and I have the factory wheels to mount an extra set of tires on.

With the AWD any *GOOD* tire is going to be fine for drag racing. Being able to get a little spin off the line is good. The Advan Neova AD07 and the new AD08 are FANTASTIC tires and for people who will actually road race them I can get VERY special pricing

I would say for drag racing it depends on how much power you are making. If you are making 450+ then slicks would be the best tires on the strip. If your under 400 whp then pretty much any good tire like SS said

i wouldnt run slicks at 450whp unless you have some upgraded axles and shit drag radials are plenty enough sticky especially when youre running 4

my sti with 337 ehp and 360wtq would rip all 4 in first . another 100 whp would have me ripping them trough second. Thats on BFG KDW's which are sticky. Anway, i'll definitely be running some motorcycle slicks at the track on my car.

yea when i was on stock turbo meth etc i sidestepped down the track in 1st and on the streets spun through second

with slicks its a whole different game the launch is way different and be prepared because your axles might give out and slicks need to be heated up as for some drag radials dont need to be heated up for them to be sticky

Yeah I'm not sure if you ever seen me at the track but I always do a hard launch/burnout before I stage.....mostly to get a feel for the launch. As far as the slicks are concerned, I'm talking motor cycle slicks on 17x7.5 stock 2004 sti rims. The combo is not that heavy compared to regular radial.

Default GT35R Update

After some issues with the injectors and the fuel pump, the car was finally ready to be dyno'd today. It made 413whp and 401wtq on pump gas. When Scott tried to tune it with meth, it got to 423wtq, then experienced clutch slippage. We have an Act 6-puck on order and hope to get it back on the dyno Friday. More updates then. Thanks to Scott Siegel of TopSpeed and Bobby of S&R for their expert work! These numbers were achieved in 100 degree heat, by the way.
