300wft-lbs at 3500rpm, 350wft-lbs at 3700rpm, and 400wft-lbs before 3900 rpm and still ROLLING at redline
After working through a number of issues in the last few weeks (fuel pressure, meth kit, clutch, etc) it turns out that this car (and from talking to a bunch of other tuners, a bunch of other '08's) had issues at high power and high rpm.
We heard that it was the "semi-returnless" fuel system on the '08's, or how the fuel pump was being controlled, but we got it to hold 70psi of fuel pressure DEAD solid to redline.
Then we heard that it was impossible on the stock ECU and we needed to go to a MOTEC, but we didn't believe that.
After consulting 50+ years worth of tuners I finally went back to a car that had also stumped Clark Turner and Shiv 3 years ago: it would run perfectly for 2-3 days after tuning, then start running like garbage. It came to us and we thought it was the UTEC so we pulled it out and Ecutek'd it.
It made it 8 days before running poorly.
When they brought it back we said there was nothing else we could do. The father of the owner said that was not acceptable, to do ANYTHING we could think of (they had money).
I said that all I could come up with was to replace the entire engine harness and front body harness. He said to do it. I told our tech to do it.
He said "let me try one more thing." He added a bunch of 18 gauge (small) ground wires all over the engine.
3 years later it still runs beautifully.
So I decided to add a bunch of grounds to this car. I was going to add a bunch of 10ga wire but Bobby suggested to test the theory with a couple sets of jumper cables.
It changed the tune DRASTICALLY. It richened up the top end from 11.1 to 9.8!!!
I think we figured out the '08 issue

In addition to the ground issue, it appears that there is a possible cracked piston land, therefor, per Scott's advice, we are going to go with forged pistons. I have also elected, as the safer route, to go with forged rods as well. Since the engine will be apart anyway, we will be machining the bore and installing 100mm pistons. Yes, it costs more, but I've learned over the years that its cheaper in the long run to do it right the first time. I've had other modified cars before, and decided that it is better and that I will get more fun out of the car doing everything early on in my ownership of the vehicle, rather than slowly adding this or that.
do a set of cams too if you have the money will be well worth it on that setup
hmm wonder where the cracked ring came from?

for that short of time highly doubt that.... people have ran more power then that on stock block for wayy longer.. unless it was tuning error
