Default bad motor build

Well, finally got my car back over the weekend (thanks, Bobby!), but the motor is shot, due to improper machining and/or assembly. Block, heads and cams are ruined and will have to be replaced. Car is back in the capable hands of Bobby, Taylor and the other experts at S&R. Will update as the build progresses, which should take weeks, not months, and will be done right this time.

Well I just got word that Siegel and a few others were leaving Topspeed. I wonder why.

That fucking blows. All that wait only to have a blown motor, ugh.

Nice, I guess top speed cant build motors. Hopefully they are reimbursing you or something. Anyway good choice letting S&R and Taylor do the build, not sure why you didn't go that route to begin with. people always ask me why I am sooo picky with who will build my motor....this is why.

What a waste.

Default Topspeed

The machine shop they use in Atlanta did the machining. The onlly thing S&R did was cryo the block, etc. The car went up there to be tuned, developed too much power and cracked a piston land (not their fault). I elected to have them do the stroker kit and build because I didn't want to transport the car down here and I thought they were experienced and could do the job (big mistake, apparently). S&R would have been my only choice if the car hadn't been 500 miles away when it broke. Now it is going to cost a lot more, but is a good excuse to spring for Cosworth cams! You heard right about Scott; he and some other personnel left and are with, I believe, Forged (Forced?) Performance in Atlanta.

I don't believe there is any advanage to changing the pitch stop, many race cars don't run them. (there is talk of them being for crash protection.)

The spacers are certainly good in theory, but often create a leak in practice...

WOW!! have i actually found a group of car people that are actually intelligant .... big words like phenolic spacers instead of heat shield gasket............... and sound advice

The latest theory on how my engine ended up in the condition it's in is that the two halves of the block don't match (that is, that someone mixed up my block with another engine half). This is from the machine shop here. The good news is that they think that they can save my heads and my cams.
