keeping them straight for yeah .

I recommended him to s&r too. I saw the welds on the downpipe you did for him and they looked great.

because i think people are lazy as fuck... any one can spend daddys money if... you want to get into modding cars and racing tracking them w.e you should be able to do your own work

like you ld paid for 5hrs of installing at s&r for your oil cooler... pretty funny how people put theirs on by themselves without any problems... without spending money on other parts what so ever and the fact that s&r couldnt get it to work and told you that you needed more parts boggles my mind... since its made for you car... thats def not the shop id want to work on my car...

and im not a fan of brotherz i just neveer heard of a car blowing up on them until now

60% agree with you ^

The reason i do chose shops, is because if they fuck up, THEN THEY FIX IT! I agree with little things tho, but like i chose them for my rotated kit. I put all my parts on myself before then... But you never know what you will run into and i didnt want to get stuck with my car half apart on that set up.

I forgot about sedial (sp?) being at s&r past week. It's nice to hear everything went well and he's coming back. S&R did a KICK ASS job on by uego weld and it was placed perfect, PLUS they also properly diagnosed by radiator cap leak for a grand total of $58.00

Everyone was real nice there too, and knowledgable. I had all sorts of questions and they answered them all. They suggested this new mishimoto radiator cap with a temp gauge on it that I had never seen before and it was reasonably priced!!!

My car should be dyno'd just to see what it pulls, but I have to get p1507 fixed first. I cleaned the IACV tonight. It was nasty, if it was a pipe it would be clogged. Thank you subaru for designing square cavities as opposed to small round pipes like what you see on some other inferior makes

We had an alternator go out on our 97 legacy today as well. The suby's are acting up around my neck of the woods lol, but not too bad. Alternator is super easy to replace and more of a $$$ than anything. P1507?? A breeze. Simple cleaning activity that i personally enjoyed.

I agree and disagree

#1 - Some people can not or should not turn a wrench, wire, etc. Sure. They do something wrong they fix it. But. Some people can not afford to do things twice or fix something they broke

#2 - Some people flat out do not have the time. I have a good friend that recently had his motor built, installed, MoTeC installed, wiring, tuned, etc. He has built many motors, installed many motors and tuned many cars in the past. Just with his current job has no time for this. Only occasionally has time to race the car which he loves to do

#3 - Some people flat out do not want to turn a wrench

I get your point(s). I hope you get my point(s)

first off, the oil cooler kit is a generic kit... it is not "made for the car". Mike didn't feel confident about the fitting/line combination they gave us, so we used something else.

secondly, it is about time. I live up in Orlando now with only a 20pc tool set or whatever it is. I don't have the tools to do it myself up here, so when I come down I usually only have 1-2 days to get everything I need taken care of.

Finally, we are in the middle of moving (and have been for about 2 months now ) and the garage is barely accessible. My dad does all his own work to his car. I mean fuck, he gets bored and takes the engine out of his car so he can look at it. Someone like that is the last person who is going to "waste" money at a shop if it isn't neccessary... So for the past few months even he hasn't been able to do anything.

We don't just show up at a shop and let some random mechanic do work on either of our cars. Both of us have our own shops with one or two people that are allowed to work on the cars, because we trust them. Besides myself, my dad, and a few friends, only probably 2 or 3 mechanics have ever touched my car. I used to be one of the leaders of "fuck mechanics, do it yourself", but now that I am in school and working I just don't have time for that anymore. It isn't about being lazy, it's a combination of things. And when I need things done the right way the first time, there's only one man to take it to...Mike. he has never let me down.

Wow, how the hell did this turn into a S&R vs Brotherz thread....? LD loves S&R so 90% of his post will be " I love S&R and Mike is the best.....etc." Kyle likes to do his own shit and thinks anyone who is a car enthusiast and wants to mod should take the time to learn there car and wrench on it themselves. - which I totally agree with but sometimes you don't have time to do it yourself or maybe you suck with a wrench. Both are opinionated and that's what this thread is full of.......opinions. Let's get back on topic.

OP, you can go to dyno at S&R and make xxx power or you can go to another dyno and put down 30 whp more or less. What does that mean? It means that dyno #'s don't mean shit, dynos are a tool for tuning........that's it. IMO the only real #'s that show true power is your trap speed...mainly and your 1/4 et. I've raced cars that have dynoed 80-100whp more than me and then I pull them hard and they think i am bsing on my dyno #'s

I also saw a car dyno at S&R and made 260 whp, then went to a dyno jet and dynoed 287whp. Does that mean his car magically picked up 27whp.......nope. Does it mean the dyno jet is better than the land and sea dyno? NO! It just means the dyno's are calibrated differently. However, that cars trap speed has always remained the same. If you want my opinion and you really want to dyno, then take it to S&R and dyno it. If you think the #'s are too low then have them give you the corrected dyno jet #'s
