I just thought it was funny that when someone stated, from personal experiance, that a car sucks and someone who doesnt own one tries to prove him wrong.

plain and simple.. there are less evo's on the road than sti's yet more faster evo's than sti's.. there are numerous evo's in the 8s and 9s you dont see that many.. so someone is doing something right..

wow this thread was doomed from the get-go...

younger, immature kids = evo

older, more responsible guys who like dependable fast AWD cars = sti

problem solved.

just my oppinion, but i'd rather take public transportation than own another Mitsubishi..

Unless he has a set of custom-made aftermarket gears or revs the car to 14,000rpm, no it doesnt. An 04 STi wont even hit 65mph at the top of 2nd gear.

Oh and these threads are always great. I love it when people make sweeping generalizations as to the reliability and age demographic of both cars based solely on their limited personal experiences. Ive seen both cars blow up with minimal mods. Ive also seen both hold up to big power much longer than they should have. Ive met douchebag kids who own both. Ive also met older guys who are cool as shit in both communities.

I understand this is Suby Tech and we all love our cars here. This thread would go exactly the same in Mitsu Tech, except the support would be on the other side. But when it boils down, personal preference is what sets apart Evo and STi owners. Nothing more. No one will ever make a competent, irrefutable arguement that one is objectively better than the other.

i dont recall anyone saying either one is "better".. its all been they rather drive a suby which is personal preference...

and as for modding well once you mod any car you loose reliability regardless...

and im betting that if you do an age pole on nasioc, iwsti or club wrx that the majority of people owning stis are over the age of 28

each car has its downfall and i do agree theres a lot more high hp evos but hasnt the 4g63 been around for around 20years? so yea theyve had plenty of time to know what makes it go fast
