and im betting that if you do an age pole on nasioc, iwsti or club wrx that the majority of people owning stis are over the age of 28

each car has its downfall and i do agree theres a lot more high hp evos but hasnt the 4g63 been around for around 20years? so yea theyve had plenty of time to know what makes it go fast

apples and oranges
No one has come out and said "Car X is better than Car Y in every way possible", but virtually every post in this thread is about how the STi is better here or the Evo is better there. And a lot of it is either subjective, or posted based on limited information/guesses.

You can speculate all you want as to the average age of either community, but its just that - speculation. Likewise, you can say Evos are less reliable, but do you know the maintenance histories of every Evo and STi in Tampa? Florida? The Southeast? The nation? You can say you dont see as many built STis as Evos, but do you know the setup of every STi and Evo owner in Tampa? Florida? See where Im going with this?

Apples to oranges? Id say its more like Granny Smith vs. Golden Delicious .

heeh 08 evo...its not out yet...nor did they have an 07...atleast you can buy an 08 wrx now ....so technically it wins

but yeah i'd much rather have an evo then a normal wrx.

Oh and these threads are always great. I love it when people make sweeping generalizations as to the reliability and age demographic of both cars based solely on their limited personal experiences. Ive seen both cars blow up with minimal mods. Ive also seen both hold up to big power much longer than they should have. Ive met douchebag kids who own both. Ive also met older guys who are cool as shit in both communities.

I understand this is Suby Tech and we all love our cars here. This thread would go exactly the same in Mitsu Tech, except the support would be on the other side. But when it boils down, personal preference is what sets apart Evo and STi owners. Nothing more. No one will ever make a competent, irrefutable arguement that one is objectively better than the other.
not even when he is pushing about 600+whp?

HP has nothing to do with gearing dude. I think you need to brush up on the basics...

1 million hp and 200 hp...can only go as fast as the gear will let you go...

longer gears= ability to go faster in gear...like a longer gear ratio etc..

notice how porsche...can do 90 in 2nd gear...corvettes can go very fast as well

most performance vehicles that have a ton of torque will gear it to have a higher speed in each gear...much more noticibly so then a 4cyl vehicle which needs the higher gearing to get the car moving because of the lack of low end power/torque

k?
