the block has been restored:


along with a few additional pieces (no befores but these looked worse then the block did):


i also removed the intake manifold off of the k20a2 head along with all of the other misc bolts and pieces, cleaned it up and began taping it off for a touch up spray. more pics should be up tomorrow.

i ordered a new water pump today and should be picking it up after work tomorrow.

Maybe im just way to detail oriented or anal but I would have cleaned those mounting surfaces, especially before paint.. but thats just me.

 

yea, everything was cleaned/scrubbed down with comet and simple green using a hard tooth brush, various wire form brushes and a green scotch bright. the mounting surfaces themselves werent focused on because i didnt want to damage the flat surface with the scotch bright or wire tool for sealing purposes etc...
all of the mounting surfaces were taped off completely so no paint went on them. i have slowly been taking a flat blade and sliding the mounting surfaces to ensure all left over honda bond or gasket is off of the surfaces and then i wipe it down with simple green. i am pretty detail oriented as well. all bolts were removed and everything that wasnt cast was taped off before painting. i have seen builds were they spray everything and to me it looks half assed.
