4th gen prelude timeline/build
nope the guys at the tire shop were really really careful and very nice. i told them i would try to send them business. they did a WAY better job then SEARS!
and i learned somethings today and yesterday....
#1 - do not let aircraft stripper drop all over your plastic headlight cover (thank god i have a second one from my practice headlight.
#2 - do not use a drimel to buff plastic. especially when its set to 10k rpm. that shit melts plastic.
#3 - be very careful removing headlight lenses by baking them. it can slightly warp the housing and make it a little more difficult when putting the lights back together.
at least one headlight will be completely finished tonight. pics will be posted.

And I told you to be carefull when buffing plastic.
ETA on car being finished? You should have it back by friday yes?
i should have the car back by the end of this week-beginning of next week unless something happens to where the shop has to wait to do something.
i didnt mean to spill the aircraft stripper all over the headlight...and i was being carefull buffing. the dremel was the last resort to try to fix the aircraft stripper accident and that was a bad idea.
alright so...
i started by finishing off the sanding and buffing of the lenses.
as you can see i removed the black on the bottom of the headlight and the black on the edge of the headlight.

then i taped off the lense so i could paint the portions grey that used to be black. this will flow better with the color matched inserts. i used a grey primer that matched pretty decent.

here is how it came out:

i started putting everything back together

for some reason getting the lense back on to the housing has been a bitch because of a slight distortion in the housing from oven baking them. but after some clamps and some wait time it seems to be holding up.
FINAL PRODUCT

and tires are all mounted, balanced, and the wheels are ready to be slapped on the car.

thanks for looking.

Where did you get your rotors? I want EBC rotors for my car. The cheapest I can get the fronts for are around $170/pair (GSX fronts) and $125/pair for the rear

i got pics from the shop yesterday!!!! MY CAR IS PAINTED!!!! WOOOHOOOOO
the bumpers, door handles, spoiler, skirts, and mirrors will be painted by this weekend probably.
the shop has about 3-4 days until it can be wetsanded and buffed, then about 2 days for swapping the motor and getting everything set mechanically, then it goes in for final assembly which should take about 2 days, and then the final wax and full detail which should be a day or 2. i figure in about double that time for the unexpected so im looking at about 3 weeks left until i drive her home.
i have decided not to post any pics of the actual car until the final product is available
the paint and body looks amazing though!!
