I wanna turbo the stang...... I got questionz..
I'm not sure what the whole point of this is, but here it goes..
NA is a lot different than throwing a power adder at it.. To get that type of power out of an NA motor, almost everything has to be specific to it's one main purpose, making power, not longevity or economics.
The guys that run Real Street are running low 10's @ either 3100 or 3000lbs with a stock block and a single power adder... takes 550hp or so to do that....
they have a very limited platform to work with too, including a stock block..
I don't quite get the argument on either side...
Everyone likes to throw around numbers here, what most don't understand (other than a few) is what it takes to reach numbers like 600HP, 700HP, etc.
You are not going to attain those power levels cheaply, and if you try.. you will fail..
I (with the help of those such as Joe @ Fordspeed) have built a 600HP+ motor, NA mind you.. It was done as economically as I could without comprimising saftey and quality, but I still spent some coin, I've probably got maybe 12-15k in the car, and I've probably done it the most inexpensively in the class..
Streetable? Not really, but if you expect it to be, or if you think you can make that kind of power out of a small block NA with a stock bottom end and still drive it daily, well you're dumber than you look... (speaking in general terms here, no one start crying).
I don't get the "race parts" thing either, high performance parts are just that.. some are more specific to the application than others, but it doesn't mean your car is any less "worthy" of a street car if it has those on/in it..
To recap..
Can it be done? Sure. Streetable? Who knows? Everyone has their own opinion of what "streetable" is...
if you can do it or wan to try, GO FOR IT!
Who cares what others think/say?
and by the way.... I'm still faster than all of you....

Mostly any FWD Dodge from 1986 to 1991 has the turbo you want. I saw 6 of them just this Sunday @ Cophers
You will never find a T3 for a Ford.. they are fuckin rare..
Dodge has different turbos for different setups. Some of the Turbos have VNT tech, which produces boost instantly.. but those are as common as a Ford Turbo..

OK, you guys have totally lost me in this power adder/no power adder, race parts/no race parts thing. But for Tony, my car has cranked out a best of 444.4 rwhp which should come out to about 533 or so at the crank assuming a 20% loss for the automatic trans. It has run a best of 11.109 but usually around 11.2 or 11.3 with good conditions. There is a problem with the nut that holds the steering wheel. With an aftermarket racing nut holding the wheel, it could conceivably be in the 10's. It is my daily driver/only car and is perfectly streetable although it is not exactly limo quality. I much prefer driving it around town than Tammy's mostly stock '98 Trans Am. And, as Donnie said, it's a stock bottom end with a lotta miles on it. It has TFS aluminum heads and small cam on it and unported intake (Cobra/GT40). I know it's not in the big HP numbers that we're talking here but you did mention it so I toss this out for info only.
Can't tell you what kind of numbers it put out purely stock because I believe it was born with a blower on it. When I bought it, it had a little Vortech A-Trim on it blowing 4 psi and running low 13's. It now has an S-trim at 10 psi.
All that being said, I would think 15 psi with a turbo setup would get you into the 600+ hp range quite easily. Would it survive on a stock bottom end and 93 octane? Probably, assuming a good tune and good gas.

No you're not, Biotch, your car is broken and can't even keep up with me and my crappy knees on foot. A few weeks ago it might have been a different story.

Rare compared to Dodge stuff? Yeah. Rare? No.
Don't forget the Merkur's in the import section. Or go to www.turboford.org and get them used cheap.

How did Big3 treat you? They treated me like shit a few years ago when I went there looking for an intercooler. I would stick to T3's only because if you ever need to rebuild the turbo, it will be far easier and cheaper than a diesel unit. Plus, the T3's are common additions to 5.0's, where as you're on your own with sizing a diesel unit. If you aren't looking for all out performance, maybe a pair of DSM turbo's. I'm guessing you could get 450hp out of a pair, and those things are very plentiful.
Or the Dodge T3's, because you can run them until you find the bigger ford units, and you won't have to modify your headers since the T3's bolt up. Just beware that to get the Dodge units off, you have to pull the head off, and there are a few different model's of turbo found on those cars depending on the year, so know what you're looking for first.

well that would be nice hp range, 450.... I dont wanna like pull anything crazy, its gonna be a nice little track and street motor, I want something stretable, and what's a new dsm turbo go for? Keep in mind I want two, and I read on a site they wanted 840 dollars for a intercooler for there setup, what should I look to pay for an intercooler? I dont know what I want for a turbo yet, but junkyard turbo's are old scragly and rusted to hell, so most likely I will buy slightly used ot brand new, this is gonna be expensive!
and im building a new motor from block up, shit....
oooh and ahh running lest say 10 psi at the track on a TT setup , well since my car is new and up to date and all(8
its got O2 sensors, what can I run for fuel? anything above like 93 will start to hurt them cause of all the lead and O2's dont like all leaded fuel. so what should I run and or can I run 110 or higher all the time at the track and just have to buy new O2's everyonece in a while? I hope thats not the case....
