which dsm turbo should i go with my d16y8
90 hatch dx (multi-point conversion)
d16y7 block with 50k
eagle h beam rods
srp 9:1 pistons
91 dx tranny with act HD PP and street disc
ls throttle body, y8 IM port matched, z6 head with 50k miles on it
hf adapter manifold (ported)
turbo choices: ive narrowed it down to a 16g or 20g
15psi
2.5" dp running open downpipe
large front mount like 30" across 3" thick 7" i think top to bottom
stock fuel pump maybe an inline
vafc
450cc dsm injectors
ghettodyne hack (for people who have heard of it) if not go to the website g h e t t o d y n e. c o m
hope that gives u enough of the capibility of my set up so that u can make a good opinion on which turbo i should go with.
please post experiences with either turbo
also i want at least 275-300whp
prolly gonna rev to 7800

there is a HUGE difference from a 16G(small or big) to a 20G
with such little displacement you have, i would say go with a T25, or a 14B (13G if you can find one, automatic 1G dsm)
might also want to lower your expectations...try 225whp as your 1st goal...thatll be hard enough as it is..and i dont reccomend running 15psi either...id say try 10 or so, then slowly work your way up and see how the motor likes it.
ps- saw you had a stock fuel pump...id say drop in a wally 255...the stocker isnt going to like flowing 42#/min

ive used a wally gss341 with the adapter kit. the collector doesnt hang low enough to suck up all the gas when my tank reads halftank it is time to refill. and yes i have done everything possible to get it lower. i dont see 300hp far fetched at all. the motor is not stock i have pistons rods and block guard on a 50k mile engine. and its just a single i dont care if it blows cause its gonna blow eventually and i barely have any money into the motor.

i mean people used to say a t3t4 was too big for a honda engine but now its common place now u see str8 t4's and 60-1's. i wanna do something different and dont discount the D motor it has the potential to reach 275-300whp with the right setup.
i was hoping to get some input with someone who has messed around with some dsm turbos on hondas, but feel free to voice opinions that have some credibility.

those people who use 60-1's and T4's...have you seen their setups? they can flow the air to spool it...if you want to spool a 20G on a stock cam, stock porting, stock valves etc. all i can say is good luck. cause itll be hard to do it, especially with your fuel setup. DSM's are 2.0's, they drop in 660cc injectors, 255lph fuel pump, cams, and headwork and alot more effort into getting it all right. its not just putting some turbo on..it takes time and research...research for your injectors and hp goals, research of compressor maps, etc. but as i said, with as little displacement, and apparently no head work, your going to probably want what i listed, for quick spooling, or for mid range spooling

sleepyrx no thanks. which ever turbo i get its gonna be for 250 already rebuilt. i have a hookup in altamonte. as far as setups ive seen the 60-1 is my boys, t3tt4 on the sol in my sig, and the t4 on my boys hatch. all stock heads. all run mid 11 times, except high 12 on the sol. a guy i know is running a clipped 18g on a b16 full boost at 3700ish. stock b16. now i think i will be ok with the 16g yeah the 20g would be a little too much but a 16g (small) will be ok. as far as fuel goes i will be just fine with fuel. im running the dsm injectors w/ a vortech fmu. i will get the fuel that i need especially with the bump in fuel pressure and an inline pump. i was asking for people who may have experimented with the 16g or 18g or even the 20g on a single cam.
i may just try all 3 of them on the car cause i have a 14b, and i have access to the 16, and 20g. ill keep ya posted

people run those volvo t3 turbos all day. i think im gonna just try this turbo and see what happens. i think it will suit me just fine. its all about trial and error we all do it but my opinion is that i will be fine with a small 16g. thanks for all the opinions
