99+ G20 + GTiR = ??
Awesome-sauce? ...... I think so.
Anyone know anything about this swap?
Have any recent info about it?
I'll admit, I've not searched very thoroughly, but everything that I'm finding dates back 8-10 years, and is irrelevant now. A lot of stuff saying that if you're going to swap, you are limited to just the 1999 model year due to ECU issues. And that the GTiR swap is pretty much impossible, so you have to stick with the Bluebird swap.
But we all know how things like that change with time.
Ideally, I'd like to pick up a 2000+ G20 touring, or even the 2002 sport trim level, swap in the GTiR engine.
From what I know and have been able to figure out thus far, physically, it shouldn't be difficult to get the engine in the engine back, and you should (key word, should) be able to just bolt up the block to the stock tranny.
The problem comes with the wiring and making everything work. If I were to pull the trigger on this, I'd want everything to function like stock.
thoughts?
opinions?
advice?
info?
tips, tricks, cheat codes?

I'm still holding out that there are some missing pieces that I've not been able to find yet that would make it worth it.
But so far, in my searching, it seems to me that by the time you buy the car, and do the seemingly complicated, lots of custom work, swap, you're going to be 9 grand or more in the whole, and at that point, you only have a front wheel drive car with 250 ish HP. I can think of a few cars I'd rather have/rather build for that same 9 grand price tag, all of which, would show better results.
I'm actually really considering building a boosted J30. Rear wheel drive, boosted (300zx TT swap), 6 speed (350z tranny) 350+ hp, 4 door daily driver, with lots of potential for right around $6,500.
I don't know. I've not decided to commit one way or another yet. Still looking for some options.
I kinda need a sedan since our other cars are 2 seaters, but I don't want to get stuck driving something boring either. GTIR G20 has appeal. A J30-TT has appeal. Even considered getting an older Cadillac Eldorado or something, and swapping in an LS1 or something dumb like that. decisions, decisions.
Me and a friend did a 99 SR20 in his 2005 Sentra. To make it as smooth as possible he got the entire 99 donor car....and ended up using the entire body harness from it. Im not sure if that helps, but it did look like a huge bitch to get it to work without changing all the wiring too.

what engine did it start with?
I was thinking it would take the whole front clip to get the job done.
As for the body wiring, that's the part that I've not been able to get any real information on.
On one hand, since it is sr20 to sr20, you almost want to think that just some engine harness connectors would need changed and you'd be good to go. Then on the other hand, a gtir engine isn't exactly the same as an n/a sr20, so it could get complicated fast.
I'm not scared of complicated, I just don't want an overly complicated swap, that is going to cost a stack of cash, just to end up with something that is about par with other cars that cost about the same.

You should talk to Andres Miko or gtirTony with the pulsar. They will be the best source of information. Keep that p11 transmission, it's the strongest you will get and bolts right up. Also FWD intercooler piping and exhaust will need to be a custom affair aswell. Nobody makes kits so you will need a custom fabricator
I installed the 2000 sr20de rr 5sp into my 2006 sentra 1.8 auto. It was a pain in the ass, but everything works.
To install a gtir/bluebird engine into p10/p11/b13/b14/b15 isnt as hard as your making it to be.
Check out sr20forum.com and or sr20-forum.com. You'll find walk-throughs on how ot do it.
