Agreed, if we wanted LT1's we wouldt be in Nissan tech we'd be in GM tech. Seriously we dont go into GM tech going put a SR20 in your vette!

At any rate Z28ricer you keep saying how its onlyyy $1500 for a LT1 swap, but you forget to mention how much itll be for mounts, driveshaft, wiring harness, etc.... he only has $1500 total to spend he stated so thats really outa his price range in the first place.

i dont care at all how fast my car is, honest truth.
its fast enough, and actually way faster than i need most of the time.

and, the guy never mentioned putting an lt1 in his car, that was you building an argument from nothing.

Its going to be $$ for swap parts no matter the engine, however it helps to know what else is available, and why it would be a better choice, especially if he was planning to turbo it, etc.

Thats good that you arent telling anyone to put an SR20 into a corvette, generally it is a good idea to swap to something that is better, not take steps backwards, but thanks for the idea.

He also didnt start saying i've got X amount to spend, what can I do, he posted that he's got $1500 to work with quite a few posts after the original,

As far as getting the engine in, mounts, driveshaft, and wiring harness are not going to end up costing any different between an LT1 or KA.

this thread is about whether a KA CAN be put in an rx-7, not about WHAT he should put in his rx-7.

and yes it's been done. there is a link a few posts up. so stop with the bullshit GM motors argument.

The point is a KA swap can be had for like $200 and LT1 swap is like $1500......

A full ka, with everything, and transmission for $200 huh ?

Sorry but I wouldnt even put the effort into bothing to fab up swapping something in that cost $200.

Now be realistic and figure $500 for one with transmission, yes an LT1 can be had with T56, which is worth $800-1500 on its lonesome, for $1500, however if you want to do things on the cheap, an LT1 and T5 can be had for only a few hundred $$ more, and actually be worthwhile.

Either way you have to do a good bit of fabrication, the point is that if you are going to spend the $, at least do something that is going to get you some kind of reasonable gains.

Realistically to put the KA in you are looking at:

Mounts, $100 in materials if you have equipment and can do it yourself (I spent that putting the 6.0 in my 240, including new polyurethane mounts)

Driveshaft $200-300

Power steering hose if you are keeping ps, $125

Exhaust stuff $200 ~

Radiator, cooling $100-300
