People bitching about optispark are usually retards, crying that their 150,000 mile distributor, with its optical sensor, which is likely the same optical sensor unit in half the cars around, which missed its last 5 cap/rotor replacements, and has had their neglected water pump which should have been changed 50,000 miles prior, pissing all over it, has now died.

Realistically, like anything else, halfway maintain the damn thing and you'll get plenty of mileage out of it. Other than the opti, which allows the use of its pretty damn decent PCM, its pretty much like any other sbc, change the oil and chances are its going to outlast the car its in.

Also note that after usual boltons (headers/catback,cai, other small stuff) a simple cam swap ($500 roughly total) will get you approx 350-360 RWHP, or a cam and heads package is a pretty easy 400-430 RWHP, and runs under 2k.

Your right now this would be the swap, every one has not done it, and it is 305 HP right out of the Q-45.

Lt1/t56 is a nice combo.

Plenty of after market, they make gen1 motor mounts for s13s. T56 is pretty much unbreakable.

But vh45 is also a nice motor, the sound fucking awesome. It really depends on if you want to do fab work, or buy motor mounts and shit.

i dont really wnat to cut anything up for sake of me changing something later on down the road..
honestly, what would be the cheapest/best swap for the money?
lt1, vq, or vh is sounding convincing.. but is there firewall cutting involved in doing either of the v8s?
from what ive read it sounds like al thats needed for the lt1 is mounts and harness... but i highlty doubt thats it..

btw, that rb does sound like a sick idea, but im too broke

btwx2, thanks 4wheeldrift, it was my first time to the track and open diff

im still considering itbs on my trusty ka bad idea??
