350sbc/S13 mounts
Find a truck with an LS4 in it, and i'll show you a pig that can fly.
Please save yourself some time in being proven wrong, and help to not promote misinformation. Even the information you copy pasted from the all knowing intarweb, stated the LS4, is designed for transverse applications, as i've already stated. The 5.3's in trucks are LM4's, not LS4's.

full on track cars can take a lot more liberties with shit than a street car. bell bottom kits and crazy wheel fitment look cool sliding on a track, but when i want to drive to taco bus, im going to ruin all of that shit. so it just doesnt work for me. function over fashion.

No, sorry they are not, LS4's are in FRONT wheel drive GM cars, holy hell, does "transverse" slip completely through your head ?

the point of this build is also to be super cheap,im not even going to daily this thing. im not so sure i can find a newer chevy v8 for very cheap. hence why i was just going to pull some truck 350 and give it a simple rebuild.

Why not just build your own? Or have a shop do it, a guy built my mounts for a 350 project for $100.
I dont know of any kits for 240s, because I dont own one. But I would give it a go yourself and if that doesnt work try a "home fabricator" there are plenty on here.

The main issue is really going to lead back to the oil pan, and headers. Yes you can find a Gen 3/4 longblock for a reasonable price, even the 4.8 would leave you with greater potential for the $ than most gen 1 350s for the money spent. Trying to hack together an oil pan that will work with the Gen1 engine and actually supply the engine properly, and not end up ruining bearings after a few hard runs, is going to be a pain, whereas the gen 3 engines allow you to use the factory GTO pan, which is front sump to begin with. The gen 3+ engines also use a different oil filter location, which on the gen 1/2 blocks it being very close to the steering shaft in an S chassis, makes header fitment extra trouble also.

My vote is on a LQ4 (basically a iron block LS2) they are just as cheap and are extremely potent.
