I love this hobby too and this is why I am in it... It gives satisfaction and financially provides a lot higher than you probably assume.; not to prove anything to anybody.
If I am not doing anything automotive related in 10 years I will be doing something where I can still have you as a fan somehow.

Im gonna guess that was on the 2JZ 350z ?

i think the quote in my sig fits very appropriately here... lets let the personal banter die, and let a true tech related thread (that is honestly way beyond my comprehension) continue for the pure sake that it will hopefully stimulate tech talk in an other wise lost forum... can't we all just get along

Im willing to bet, the transition time form max c/r to lowest will be slow as crap. The camshaft and rod that are responsible for adjusting the c/r looks to be on a 2:1 lever. Which means 50% of the force on the piston is exerted onto the camshaft.

It looks like it'll be able to change quickly to me, but again it's really hard to see what's going on in those tiny pics. Personally, I'm wondering how they're going to lube all those joints in there. Man I wish there was a better drawing of this.

Say theres 250psi of pressure in the cylinder, and the pistons are 80mm (2.5 inches squared), that is 625lbs of pressure this mechanism has to move against. Even if its not moving, it still has to support that weight. Can you move fast while supporting that much weight? Keep in mind 250psi of cylinder pressure is pretty low, especially on a turbo engine. Pressures can reach 2000psi+. Im assuming they are using a worm gear which is extremely slow.

CAN has been on some BMW's since the early 90's... 8 series for sure... They used 2 seperate ECU's to run 1 V12... with a CAN link.
