I wonder which Martin you are reffering to. If it's me, I will remind myself that I am an idiot next time I see one of your built motors.

So let me get this straight, you are not an idiot because you can order a bunch of expensive parts and pretty much assemble them to spec?

Seriously, what is unique about the way you build a motor? You get some lee-way on the piston-wall clearance, and the rod/main bearing clearances. And most of that is based on the most basic principals of thermodynamics: hot shit expands, make sure nothing is in its way. How many pieces of any motor you have built, did you do the r&d for? You are a common mechanic, that works in a niche market (sorry). Dont you have a LS1 swap to be fucking up?

I love you troll. You come around once in a blue moon on TR when some aspect of your life propels you to try to aggrevate others through a keyboard. Seriously you don't know how much I laugh every time I read one of your posts. Just a little man behind a big keyboard.. I will continue in my "common mechanic" career putting together motors by basic pricipals letting people with a slightly elevated IQ as yourself think highly of themseleves becuase they can spell the word "thermodynamic" and think they can do it all. hahaha

I like to pop in every now and then to set people straight. I try to do my part to prevent the prorogation of bad information.

Ill be laughing more in 10 years when engines and control systems are too complex for you to work on and you're out of a job. Seriously, if you're impressed with my spelling of the word "thermodynamic", I don't want you anywhere near my motor.

Just be honest with people and yourself. You'll still have business because not everyone wants to fuck with the insides of their motor for various reasons.

Everyone that works on cars knows this as common knowledge. I will be the first to admit that the majority of today's engine control systems are too complex for anyone this side of a very specific hardware level electrical engineer's degree to understand. I am not here to pretend that I have such knowledge.. but if you think I will be out of a job you are not as intelligent as I thought earlier... If I don't understand it I will find someone that does, hire them, pay them and make money off of their work... that is the basis of any shop or business for that matter.
See that is how people like you, that think they are smarter than the system end up working for the man or people like me.
I am not impressed with your ability to spell.. I am not impressed with your knowledge of how motors or dynamics of motors work because talk is cheap... I would be impressed if you would put your money where your mouth is and stop being a troll on here.
I honestly am very ambivelent about your rhetoric.... you said it best when you wrote...

"You'll still have business because not everyone wants to fuck with the insides of their motor for various reasons."

So please if you want to set people straight, save your typing for someone that gives two fucks.

Cheers,
Martin

man.. how do you think I got a controlled area network in a 07 Nissan seperated into datastreams so that I could introduce a non Nissan tach signal back into it... I DIDNT DO IT.. but someone I hired for the job did in about a week.

I love this hobby too and this is why I am in it... It gives satisfaction and financially provides a lot higher than you probably assume.; not to prove anything to anybody.
If I am not doing anything automotive related in 10 years I will be doing something where I can still have you as a fan somehow.

Martin
