what usually breaks with too much power on a sr?

1. TRANSMISSION
2. throttle body and your motor will swallow the screws happened to me twice.
3. Cheap manifolds.
4. Stock Drive shaft breaks with traction
5. Oil pick up
6. Stock Ring lands
7. BOV's
8. More frequent oil leaks to take care of rear & front main, front cover, etc
9. random shit just gets loose and needs to be tightened all the time

ive just always wanted a car with around 400 And if i go through the trouble building my head i wanna have hp gains that are worth it. otherwise i'll jsut leave it how it is and throw a rom tune on it.

and i need a headgasket and since the head is off i should probably throw in cams then springs and so on its just addicting

when i fist got my sr 2 years ago with stock t25 i thought it was badass then i got bored put on a t28 got bored again and put on a t3/t4 its just power is so addicting

People make it so difficult. Put some JWT S3's in there with an Apexi gasket and a ROM tune (on top of the 740's you already have). The S3's don't need springs, and flow great. The Apexi gasket is bullet proof. Get some more stock head bolts ($80 a set) and you're done. You don't need step2 cams to make 400whp. You don't need ARPs to make 400. You don't -need- adjustable cam gears at all.

By the way, shattering rockers sucks. I did it and ruined my HKS cams, and bent a valve. This happens with valve float.

Epstein... stock headbolts will not hold past 380 for any extended period of time. Flat out will not clamp hard enough and will stretch.

Err, I made 425whp on them at 1.3bar, overboosted to 2.0bar, and routinely did highway runs in 4th at 1.5 bar. I've never had a problem with stock headbolts. I don't doubt what you say, though. What failures or headlifting have you seen?

Either way, ARPs aren't much more than stockers. Log in to Fresh Alloy to see some stretched ARPs.

Well the failures I have seen on stock headbolts have been on very very abusive customers cars... like the type that only know how to drive with the throttle at 100%. The failure usually was a elongated head stud.

See here is the difference.. the regular SR20 ARP kit that is readily available today is about 25% thinner than the old kit that was badged VW 1.8....
The new studs are crap.. The old kits held up to those kinds of customers abuse.... I will show you the 2 different kinds of studs next time you swing by.. and you will be like WTF ?

what i think is kinda neat is you have three people, me being lowest of the 3, but still three people that know what theyre talking about, and 2 that do this for a living telling you to go about it differently, but you still insist on having to have 400hp.
so, reach for the stars.
and when your motor blows, post about it.
so we can say "told you so"

i called xat today which martin(180sx) works there and theyn said 40 is pushing it alil bit so what i planned on doing was having a low boost and a high boost. run low boost when drifting and daily driving and if i go to the strip or happen to get into a race on the street a can switch it over to high boost.

its not like a need 400hp to go to school or whatever im just saying it would be nice to have it when i want it.

the low boost tune could be for around 360 and the high boost could be for 400 i dont see the problem with that. its not like im flooring it everywhere i go im usually good to my motor.
