The only bad part was that the old diff fell off of the jack when I was removing it. Thankfully, my pinky finger was there to soften the blow. I think it's now sprained but not broken.

Still, I took it for a test drive and it seems to be limited slipping so all is good.

I forgot to tell you that your post did help. My knuckle is still really red and I'm still swollen but at least I've got a full range of movement and no bones sticking out. This didn't stop me from being a douche and testing out the diff in an undisclosed location earlier.

But I tried the beer approach to killing the pain and got nothing. Fortunately, I had a glass of ice water to soak it in most of the night. Time to sleep and see how that goes.

A few years ago I had a ford 460 swing to the side when lifting it out of the truck and got my pinky stuck between the header and inner fender on one of the swings. I had an indentation for over a week where it crunched it. I too did not break the bone lucklily, but it hurt like a mother fucker

Moved it into the garage to avoid the tree trimmers. I was going to adjust my e-brake cable but I still hurt a bit. So instead I made videos.
