its dinky bro, seriously. The ones ive seen are about the size of a child. When you have one that huge, there isnt a lot of places to put it other than in the passenger compartment.

Well it's not like I bought a 23 year old car expecting it to be perfect. That's exactly why I'm sticking to slightly newer cars. I can focus more of my time and money on things like suspension, rather than neglected maintenance if I'm not constantly freaking out about the rust, brakes, oil leaks, etc.

knawmean?

That does suck, your car was so nice!

Found a new wheel/center cap set up for the truck. They're also big enough for me to be able to run the disc conversion that I have.

A normal air-water setup would be perfectly suitable for the street or extended running. The IATs aren't as great, but are in the same ballpark. I looked over some data and you could basically sum it up as the difference between a cold air intake and a normal intake. It's a lot of fabrication, but I wouldn't hesitate to run one on the cars that most of us have.

I didnt really mean your efficiency goes to shit, just that its not nearly the same as running around with ice in the tank.

A lot of the time it comes down to how big of a reserve tank you've got, and how well your heat exchanger setup works, some stuff with production setups dont have that great of a capacity and can heat soak.

I believe a ford or two has something where it will use the a/c setup to cool the charge air for something like 10 seconds ?

Yeah, I would definitely look at production-side parts for the heat exchangers. ZR1, Ford GT, etc. When I first read about this, the only OEM air-water setups were in obscure Subarus and the then-current ST205. Now you can go to the local parts counter and buy parts OEM parts for setups that support real power.

Cooling with a heat pump is a pretty neat idea. I need to break out the thermodynamics book though. If Ford will only run it for 10 seconds or so, that probably means that it's not that efficient. But if you look at something like drag racing, it would be cool to have a system where you could temporarily use the AC to freeze your reservoir, switch it off so there's no power draw, and then have 20-40-60 seconds of super low IATs for your pass. An extension of that... use a Prius electric AC compressor dedicated to the reservoir and remote mount all that stuff. And then... leave room in the reservoir for drinks!
