Half the side of #3 piston is MIA. I'm surprised there isnt more damage to the cylinder walls. The side of the piston is pretty much gone. Broke the 2nd compression ring and oil ring in 2 places. Weirdly the top ring is intact. Its also partially melted.

dyno'd it today. Makes a lot more torque than I thought it would. The weather station on the dyno was being retarded, but given all the data we agreed it was making 350whp/330tq. SAE correction was returning stupid numbers like 365/345. 18psi and pump gas. Normally I don't correct, except that it was 105* and a million % humidity on the dyno. These numbers agree with a few other builds I've been following as well. It could have taken a few more psi as well.
Uh, you didn't get back any pieces of ring land? Every cracked piston I've seen (2) had the bits still captive between the rings. I wonder where those bits went...
All of it was still there, I just pried it loose. The only piece that was missing was the top portion. Also #1 & 4 pistons have the ring lands cracked in multiple places. This motor is a disaster. I also think 2 of the rods are slightly bent because the caps dont really want to go back on, though the bearings dont show any sign of abnormal wear. So new rods/bearings will be ordered too.

For the rods, stack them up on their sides and line up the big ends. Then look at how the small ends line up. That'll tell you if they're bent. I had one that was .030" short and it cost me 30psi of compression.
That top part of your piston was vaporized, literally, which is why you can't find it. You can see it tunneling down behind the top ring into the ring land area. That's that "V" shape.

Haha this thing was toasted. #1 piston looks like it was starting to melt too, the top and edge of one side was pretty rough looking. Stupid motor. Hopefully all the parts are in by friday so I can start putting it back together.
