Picked up an uncut downpipe from Sean today, hopefully it stops my exhaust from dragging.

Might be grabbing a 2.5" exhaust from Tim in the next day or 2 also.

My damn downpipe is still like a fingernail away from my frame rail, something else seems to be the issue.

 

So what I'm seeing is a melted spot on the piston. It's on the intake side of the piston. This is telling me that you had a fuel delivery problem on that cylinder or all of them and this one (and #1?) succumbed to the lean condition.

Also, you mentioned that you had a fuel level sender issue filling up the day it blew. Do you think that you fuel starved the engine from an issue in the tank? High G's of the event might have exacerbated any marginal tank problem that could have existed.

 

yeah I'm wondering if the fuel sock fell got knocked off the pump. I know the fuel level sending unit came off and it wouldnt surprise me if it knocked the sock off and created fuel issues. I'll take a look in the next day or two.

 

replaced a starter i got for cheap now she runs again. thanks mike. works great
