Datsun Dreaming
will bleeding my brakes help my ebrake grab better at all? or is it possible that my cable is streched...? like the cable doesnt feel streched, but i have to literally rip the fuck out of the brake for it to actually lock, or else it just slows the car down. the reason i ask is because i figure it being mechanical, that the fluid has nothing to do with it, but i may be very wrong. and i just replaced the rear pads and rotors, so thats def not the problem.

Ebrake shouldn't be dependent on fluid level. It's mechanical. It's designed to be used in an emergency, if you loose brake fluid.
On the same note, that's what mine does. And I have fresh pads as well. And it stops the car and holds it on a hill, and seems to grab pretty low, but it takes a ton of effort to actually lock the tires. I need to climb under the car and see what's going on with that too.

Pedro e-brake wasn't grabbing to save yourself either.
Marc's was doing okay.
Sean, there is a 14mm (or 17mm maybe) nut that is actually on the caliper that you can tighten to adjust for that as well.

Maybe I'll install that hydro ebrake I bought after all... It would be nice to have an easy locking e-brake.

Im not buying that theory. I had brand new tires on heavy ass 18x10 and was able to lock wheels, I still believe that cable might be too loose. Tighten it from the caliper for best results. Stir once. Test
That could be it too. Mine is pretty tight, but my both rear wheels/tires together weigh 92lbs and thats a lot of fucking weight spining around in a circle. I'm also running Hawk HPS pads so its not like they suck.

My ebrake cable sucks ass. Not that I need it or do any hard driving like you guys do. But I remember tightening it a while back, and the other day when I yanked up on it to lock the rear wheels so i could loosen the lugs I noticed it comes up mega high again.
