That motor ran damn strong...

Today I just cleaned the windows/windshield, vaccumed some more rust out, swept the bed out and put my bungie-cord bed x-brace back on.

I've been on the kick of getting some work done on the truck, it would be nice to atleast get one hole patched.

Hopefully after we can get mike's sr done, I'll be able to start on the ka for the truck and get that and the new trans in.

So heres a question for the small group of smart people on tr. LOL

How much does winter weight/cold start ratings of a oil really matter in florida?

Are there really any advantages to us worrying about if were running a 5W or 10W cold start rating oil?

Discuss!

agree w/ 10w30.

I've always used cheapo Castrol GTX w/ Pureolator filters (sometimes I go all out and get the pure-one filter... lol)

My VW runs 0w-30. The first number corresponds to oils ability to flow at cold start up. I can't remember what temperature it was at the moment. For instance, a "5w-30" rated oil will flow better at cold start up than a "10w-30" rated oil will, but will have the ability to flow the same at operating temperature, more on this next. The second number corresponds to its ability to flow at engine operating temp. For example, a "5w-30" will flow better than a "5w-40" at operating temperatures, but have the ability to flow the same at cold start up.

Bob is the oil guy, did an extensive report about oil grades, viscosities, filters and such. I cant find the link right now, but if I do I'll edit the post. It is a very long and informative report. Hope this helps

Pure one's are actually one of the best oil filters out there to run.
