Looking into making a speed bar for the rear of my car. Might make one for the front as well and sell my Progress sway.

What the hell is a speed bar? Since a quick Google search doesn't reveal a definite answer, should I assume it's a term you Nissan Road Racing Forum nerds thought up?

Looks like this:

Uses bearing blocks instead of bushings and I can make one for like 40-50$

Is it really called a "speed bar"?

That was what I was picturing, I've seen them on Grand Am and other race cars. *edit* and I've seen Ground Control's E46 M3 application too. Appears to be the same idea. Just never heard of a speed bar...

Thats what I've read them called before so I just went with that. From what I've seen they use pillow blocks instead of bushings. so they rotate very quickly with alot less resistance.

DSG has similar bars on their Time Attack car.

I plan on using the stock location in the front, I'll have to figure something out for the rear.

Is there any reason WHY you want that type of bar? Does it really offer any gains over a traditional sway bar setup?

If I make one for 50$ and sell my Progress for 150$ I make 100$ so that works for me. It also gives me an excuse to practice using the mill.
