The regular Z barakes are a good upgrade...especially for street and auto-X use.

I am talking about the bigger rotors from the Z/G with brackets to use the 300Z calipers. The calipers don't sit right and you aren't getting any extra swept area, just more surface area for the rotor to cool....

Does your downpipe run close to it? Ive seen a few cars with the floor modified, that way you don't have to sit super far back. Which is what I will probably do, because my head hits the roof in a bucket >_>.

The Evo set up is better, but I understand how this is can be considered a hack job as well. I believe that if the brackets are of quality and so are the bolts holding them on it is much better option than the bigger rotors on calipers that aren't made for them option.

For street use they are over kill, but at least the Evo set up has calipers and rotors that match in size and are set up for each other...

Oh, and for my Q this is not overkill...
Yeah, I give up. Everyone has a good point. Tim keeps it real again. I'm going to stick to deleting posts!

<- dropped 5 digits on a build and put 297mm 2-piston Q45 brakes on it.

well that didn't take long for me to chime in....

This is wrong. Swept area is the area of the disk that touches the pad while rotating. That is, the area of a ring. = Pi * (R1^2 - R2^2), where R1 is the rotor diameter, and R2 is the rotor diameter minus the pad width or R1-pad. Make rotor bigger => make swept area bigger.

I have the smaller Q45 brakes and have been on the same Hawk pads for over a year with out issue. I've yet to see a reason go bigger. Some SCCA classes usually run stock calipers. They just use really agressive pads, good brake fluid and lots of ducting to keep everything cool.

I dont know if my brakes will hold up to multiple 140mph stops though, and I dont plan on finding out.

SPL style brake ducts help out alot too. Simple to make and they work.
