Datsun Dreaming
But maybe its due to the fact, that I don't pay that much for stock parts like that =\

Cool, you've now compared a bare KA24DE engine, to an LS1 with transmission.
Heres a little more cool information for you
SXOC Bulletin Board - View Single Post - Guess the weight, sr20det and ca18 ??????
IF you dont want to click the link, its the full weight of an SR20DET and a CA18DET with transmission and accessorys.
SR20DET @ 216.5Kg or 476.3 lbs
CA18DET @ 227.5Kg or 500.5 lbs
You've got the LS1 listed using chevys page at 497, so at my blocks 60 lb weight, im at 547 lbs, now if you've got a brain and take into account 75 lbs + of the LS1/T56's extra weight is in the transmission, and realize this weight is low and in the center of the car, and the SR car is generally running a 20 lb or so intercooler stuck in the nose of the car. The 75 extra lbs i've got over an SR car isnt exactly going to cause the negative handling tim is hoping for, and that doesnt even take into account the weight loss of going from cast iron manifolds on the LS1 to headers.
Sorry buddy, you've again proven that you fail to prove a valid point, or at the very least fail to read what was stated originally, as I never stated that my car was going to be lighter than a SR20 car, I said the handling isnt going to be something awful as tim is figuring on.

But I was just copying text from another debate

And I know what your saying, I love ls1s. I drove a ls1 fc, after owning 4 rotary fcs myself. It was like there wasn't a change in the front, well not big enough to make a huge difference.
It would dig into the corner with the front a little more, but steering out of the corner was easier.

I'll believe the chevrolet numbers before some guy on the internets, as well as my own experience shipping entire drivetrain setups.
if by shit ton, you mean 138 lbs, yup, well worth it for a transmission 3x stronger than an SR/KA transmission, with an extra overdrive.
A bare LS1 block is 91 lbs, crankshaft about 50 lbs, heads weigh about 25 lbs each, piston/rod combos maybe 3 lbs ea so another 24 lbs there,
we're at 225 and short only a couple little things, you expect me, or anyone else with some sense to believe the camshaft, lifters, and aluminum oil pan weigh in at 150 lbs ?
The supposed scale reading makes more sense it being a complete LS1 minus transmission, 375 lbs, and 140 for the T56, comes in just a little bit above the chevrolet listed 497 lbs, and is more inline with what I remember from shipping them which was right around 520 lbs, with the LT1/T56's I shipped coming in right around 600, maybe a hair more.
have some rediculously low offset weds on the back of my car right now cuz I'm waiting on my new tires to be here tomorrow... I feel like I am driving a mexican mobile haha.

maybe after I take them off I'll make them into a sweet coffee table or something haha

Haha what size/offset are those wheels?
