Go to any hobby store that sells model airplanes or RC cars. Ask for the spray tint. Use that. Dont go any other crappy way. My tail lights on my fox have been like that for a couple years with no problems and I have done friends' cars for them too, all come out great and last a very long time. If you can spray paint with a can (get runs) practice first then paint your lights that way you dont get them all runny. Also, numerous light coats til you get your desired darkness.

 

warm up the painting surface..i used a heat gun lightly to get the paint to stick better without sanding..

do you just paint the out side of the brake lights? or do you take it apart and paint the inside of the brake light?

 

the rc car paint works best make sure its candy apple or something i used candy apple red when i all red'ed my tails and friends have used the black spray for tinting and what someone says the more coats the darker it gets and doesnt look bad if u know how to spraypaint.

I have a can of VHT Nite Shades that I have been meaning to get around to doing my lights. I actually have to sets of euro style tails one chrome one black but both are getting the tint. I use the night shades smooth out any uneven spots sanding and clear coat them.

 

i have heard that it creates more liability though?

such that if your tails are smoked black, that if someone rear ends you, you are now the one at fualt or something?

could just be dumb kids, but i remember reading it on here i think
