I mean, cant you punch out a 4g63 to the same BORE as a 4g64 and be the same as a destroked 4g64?

Ah, I see what you are saying now. You can't do that w/o sleeving the block.

The 4G63 has a bore of 3.35, and the 4G64 is 3.41. So to achieve 2.14L with a 4G63 block you need to overbore by .120". You can't do that without sleeving the cylinders on the 4G63 block. You can go to about .080" over and it still passes the sonic test w/o sleeves.

Also at .120" overbore, you need a very custom HG as none of the std metal ones will seal properly around the fire ring.

The 4G63 is a very rev happy motor. The ideal way to go about raising the displacement would be to do "something" to raise the bore and the stroke at the same time, as opposed to just the stroke ........ hint hint

Actually its only .080" (1.5mm) difference between the 2 motors. Can a 4g63 be bored that far??

Yes the difference in a non-overbore 4g63/4g64 block is .080, but you have to account for the stroke difference in the crank, they aren't proportional to the bore difference.

A 4g63 crank in a 4g64 block would be 3.41in bore with a 3.46 stroke, with 4 cyls thats ~2.1L.

The 4g63 has a stroke of 3.46 in and a bore of 3.35. That gives 122.61 cu in or 1994.20 ccs.

To get 2.14L, you need to go to 3.35 + .120 = 3.47 bore, same stroke of 3.46 to get 130.5cu in or 2139cc = ~2.14L.

The SBR destroked motors use a 2.4 std bore block with a 2.0 crank and are 2.1L motors. Who else makes these destroked motors?

The first person I saw building and talking about the 2.1 was Marco.

More low end torque I think is pretty much the main point. Helps to get the heap of crap we call dsm's up and moving faster and also helps the engine rev faster which means you get into boost quicker.

hmm makes sense, plus im sure if I did that to my RS it would perform so much better and I could probably reach top end much quicker
