Default 2.0L vs 2.4L

Here you go boys and girls. I am bored at my new job with nothing to do so I am going to start one of the ultimate discussions for us here. What is better for what purpose, why, accomplishments and show proof. Lets try to keep this smart and civil.

Ok now this is hear say but from reading on nabr and stuff a 2.0 will always be faster in the 1/4 cause it can stay in 3rd gear much longer, or any gear for that matter.

So is it best to stroke a 2.0 to a 2.3?? I always assumed that bigger was better

It seems alot of people would go with the 2.3/2.4 for the torque but with how weak our drivetrains are and the fact that you can't really rev. past 8000rpms if you are using it for mainly drag racing I would go with a high reving 2.0 built motor. With the extra cost to go to a 2.3/2.4 the power gains are not really worth it and the extra wear on the drivetrain it just does not seem like the better combination.

The fastest turbo and non turbo awd dsm is still a 2.0. The fastest 4g63 is a 2.0. And almost all the fastest dsm's in florida are 2.0s.

I'm confused....Couldn't you just have the drivetrain well built to withstand all that torque from a 2.3/2.4???

I'm sure you could. Especially since Sheps drivetrain is built enough to handle the power his 2.0 puts down(which is more then any 2.4 has ever made). Each have their up's and downs. 2.4 makes more power with less rpms hence saving some trans but is rougher on the drivetrain. 2.0 makes power up top saving some stress to the drivetrain but killing transmissions.

I just think you can accomplish the same as a 2.3/2.4 with a 2.0 and put the money elsewhere.

ok, lets not make this thread into jerry's car again. he has only run it once with the setup it has and it went 10.42 @ 133 on a shakedown pass... so if you want to discuss motors, stick with motors and stop talking about someones car.

and for the record, jerry has a 2.4 motor, not a stroker!
