70's and 73's. Hmm, does it have the power valve in?

Is this off a rotary? If so, I would think the PV is plugged? Check between the jets on the primary side, if their is a spring, valve thing, brass color that is the PV, if there is just a solid peice, brass color again, it is plugged. I would start out with something leaner, but could always run it like that too see how it runs. I would say start around 60's, with the PV plugged and have the idle mix screws 1.5 turns out, just for a starting point.

I would rather be a "Smart Ass" than a dumb ass ! ! !

The carb. has the power valve in it. No its not off a rotary. I finally got the carb tuned out enough for it to run at an idle and accelerate well. Still has the huge jets in it right now but i'm switching them out in two weeks when the car is back here in tampa.

try smaller jets and tune the car better and it should run better for you.

Damn, pissed-on kid is back! I thought you fell off the edge of the earth? Ha, ha ! ! !

I got some advice to add to yours, try tuning the carb better and it will run good ! ! !

duh, why dont you say what to do to make it run better?

Like, plug the power valve and start with somewhere around 60's jets. Make sure you have a fuel pressure reg and have it set no lower than 6psi, constant. Make the accelerator pump, pump the most amount of gas possible with the cam you have. Basically have it set on the 2nd setting. Just rough settings?

but better than "try smaller jets and tune the car better and it should run better for you."

I have said this 3 times, plug the PV and run smaller jets, it works alot better with smaller jets, because the Holley tends to be more rich that they claim it is. This is with smaller jets also.

you are correct Tony, but he claims he checks the fuel mixture by the color of his smoke.

The seals may already be shot, being it smokes.

Question ....Does the 1st gen have any type of crankcase ventilation system? And if so, is that removed from cars for just cleaning up the engine bay?
