K-series

The K-Series motors have two different types of i-VTEC systems implemented. The first is for the performance motors like in the RSX Type S or the TSX and the other is for economy motors found in the CR-V or Accord. The performance i-VTEC system is basically the same as the DOHC VTEC system of the B16A's; both intake and exhaust have 3 cam lobes per cylinder. However the valvetrain has the added benefit of roller rockers and continuously variable intake cam timing. Performance i-VTEC is a combination of conventional DOHC VTEC with VTC.

This is why the powerband on a B series will NEVER be the same as a K.

I dont see why if some one k swaps their car, theyre on the bandwagon. New technology has come to be that will allow people to go faster. Im glad i jumped on the whole internet bandwagon a while ago...

Well you see, you can have ITB's which change powerband. Different intake manifolds can change a power band. Hell, different valves can change a powerband.

I am actually pretty smart, but that's irrelevant. B series powerbands will NEVER be comparable to K series. Mostly due to what HonkeyDong posted, but a square motor also will usually have a better torque curve compared to a motor that is oversquare or under.

And here come the B series dickriders. Go ahead and "punch out" your jdm type r to a 2.0. You better sleeve it, cause that 87.2mm crank ain't gonna get you to 2.0 on stock sleeves. Oh wait, there's a thousand dollars down the drain for sleeving. And surely you're not going to use stock ITR pistons in a sleeved block are you? Better bring out your checkbook, or your foodstamps.
