Its very common to remove material from pistons and rods to make sure all parts weigh the same as the lightest one...This is something that someone with a diegrider/dremel can undertake...Just do your research and ask your techs about this...You remove a little here, a little there, throw it on the scale, check the difference, thats it...Polish them up, get them shot peened and sized for bearings and your'e done...
