i had the strut positioned so i could remove it by removing the rear sway bar bolt and the camber arm. it gave me plenty of room.

and i have a ball joint puller. the nut came off after putting the 3/4" breaker bar on it and a 4' extension. the bolt must be threaded into the lower part of the strut though. the 15lbs sledge should have knocked it out if anything. even if for some reason it was cross threaded it still should have came off.

when i put the 3/4" bar and the 6' extension on the bolt it just shredded the socket.

idk i'm out of ideas...

 

Let me get this straight... You broke the welded nut on the back of the shock free but you can't get the bolt out?

 

Bring out the sawzall and just go wild on your car lmao cut that shit out fuck stuck bolts just cut around them like the kid who couldnt get his lugnuts off so he cut the spokes off the wheel

This should not be as much trouble as you are going through.

A spring compressor should not be put on a spring unless the shock/spring is already removed from the car. Don't ever unscrew the top center bolt/nut of a shock with it still on the car.

Gainesville, CEMAYHALL already offered to come over and help. thanx again man for the info! me and him discussed what the problem is and i'm just going to wait until i get the kyb's and the aftermarket lower control arms and assembly everything outside the car and remove the factory LCA with the strut still attached from the car. i have even spoke too several mechanics about this and it's left them scratching there heads too.

what CEMAYHALL and i believe is happening is that the bolt being as old as it is, is fused into the bushing. i would have to remove the whole LCA and take it too my shop to press it out.
