Be careful...nitrous isn't something you want to make a mistake with...your motor could easily be toast if you do.

For a 75 shot, zex recommends you run 3-4 degrees retarded. The higher the gear when you spray the more load on your motor and the quicker the heat builds up. I hope your running the correct heat range plugs too.

Zex plugs 4 degrees retarded... I've sprayed my car well over 20 times through all gears... Never acted like this before. That's why I think it may be the smart box. Pressure is at 900 psi

nitrous doesnt blow motors, people messing with nitrous who DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING blows motors !!! hence your friends timing issue
because with 110 you can run more timing before it will detonate, more timing plus higher octane equal hotter combustion temps. dont try to make yourself seem knowledgable because of something your friend did. i have had plenty of my own experience with nitrous. so your comment about my statement making 0 sense just makes you look like an idiot yourself.

kthanksbye

Ive been reading all about nitrous tuning as were about to try to get a car tuned on a healthy shot and Ive seen very little reason to run race gas+nitrous unless your spraying a huge shot on a nitrous car. For an everyday car only spraying a 75 shot, Id say just stick with 93 and retarded timing. Were using a zex kit on our car too, cant wait to see what it puts down on spray.

How low is the bottle? If it is pretty low then your losing pressure therefor changing the mixture you tuned for. When is the last time you ran a leak down and compression test on the motor to be certain the rings are good?

Just keep in mind. High octane with not enough timing can also cause pre-ignition which will hurt a motor faster than detonation ever will

Do you have any form of fuel or timing control for the nitrous ?
