running to rich help
also pull the vacuum line off the regulator and plug it with your finger and see if the fuel pressure changes.....at idle (i assume that the pressure is 58,59 at idle?)

you know my boy was telling me that same thing about the return line ill try that and the vacuum line there is vacume so thank you somebody is understanding what im saying.thank you
just had another thought, what is the manifold vacuum at at idle? if the vacuum is too low (like closer to ambient pressure) for some reason it could up the fuel pressure

yeah the timing could raise the manifold pressure (decrease the vacuum) and thus up the fuel pressure. but if thats the case it would have to be way off, i dont think a tooth or so would cause enough of a vacuum change to affect the fuel pressure that much. if it was off that much it proly wouldnt run.

yea thats what i figured but im goin to try the air thru the line as soon as i can until then im driving it every day with the back fires thats goes well next to cops.but anyway thankyou for your sugestions.ill let you know
Just wondering but do you even know what fuel pump you have? If there is a walbro in there or another high end fuel pump the pressure would spike high like that with a stock regulator. Otherwise if you know for certain that it isn't a fuel pump issue...I would really look into a clogged fuel return...somewhere in the fuel return system or possibly anywhere after the gauge could be clogged...you might even be running lean because the block could be right before you hit the injectors. The gauge might even be bad.
