block & machine shop?'s Boring, micro polishing, etc.
I need to get my B20 bored to 85mm. Hopefully that's safe! IF not then lmk. I've heard of stock ls bores being bored 2mm over and still daily driven. Anyways I need to get my crank micropolished and have very minor scratches on one of the journals. I was wandering if when I send my crank to get micropolished if it will take out those light scratches. I need to find a good shop to bore my block good price and good shop considering i'm boring a stock block, also should I take them the pistons so they can better match? Where can I get the head gasket with that 85mm broe? ALso I want to get them moly coated. Where is it cheap to moly coat? Anyways help me out with some good info. and recommendations. I hope the 85mm will be close, but hopefully not too much, anyways answer on people, lol, thanks

^I've heard very bad things of engine lab and don't think there work is worth their prices. Thanks for the info. I was hoping to here some one that bored there B20 to 85mm on stock sleeves, but I guess not. I'm going to do it no matter what cause I already got the pistons and i'm not going to waste another $1000 in sleeving I would rather take a chance and see if it works, maybe be the first person, lol. Thanks for the info. anything else?

I have had engine lab machine a block for a friend which I assembled. The work was great, the price was slightly higher then most machine shops, but the quality was worth it.

^yeah that's the problem, i've dealt with them before and had problems so that's why I don't think their prices are worth it at all. ANyways thanks but not going to engine lab, also word of mouth on engine lab has been very bad since I had my fall out.

Well guys don't take no offense to it. I'm just being real with you. Also as I said word of mouth as kep me away as well, not just my experience. I had a head rebuilt and one of the valves was not seated correctly and had payed a shop to install the head and was out my money when we had to take it back apart. Also they charged me full price and gave me the run around when I came back a week ago. ANyways they're prices aren't the cheap either, they charged me $175 to take out a screw that broke off in the head for the fuel rail and never got it out! They said cause there was an e-z out bit stuck in there. After that last time I stopped going to them. I went to a small machine shop I was recommended to and the owner did the job in a few hours for only $75, perfect job! Anyways maybe now they're better but i'm just really not trying to take chances you know. Also as I said there prices are just out there to take another chance with them and some thing accidently happen and i'm out my money again. Iwould rather go to a small machine shop I know about again where the prices are very reasonable and the jobs seem great, I just want a reputable shop you know. Also ALPHA I here alot good things about you so I believe you when you say engine lab, but 2 bad experiences = trying to look for some where else to go. Anyways anting on moly coating and any answers on my crank questions?

Can you feel the light scratches with your fingernails? Real hard to say without seeing the crank. I would recommend Swain Tech or Calico. They've been around forever. Expect to pay $130.00 - $175.00 for a crank

^$130-$175 to micropolish a crank? Or do they have cranks already micro polished? I can barely feel it with my finger nails. I can't feel it with my fingers but when I rub my nails I can slightly feel it, that's why I say when they micro polish it if you think it will come out? Anyways will I be able to ask the machine shop if it will work before they do it?
