I had a 4-1 in my EF but I had to notch the crossmember but I could do it without removing the engine from the car...same with my friends DA...did it without removing the motor. Get traction bars with the header and you will have no issues.

good advice. did you have to remove the radiator and such to get it into his DA? now when people mention collector size, what part of the header are they talking about? the final exit point that connects to the cat or where all the tubes collect? because a friend of mine has a real nice 94-01 GSR edelbrock header ($450) just sitting in his shed I was thinking about placing onto my motor. the only reason I have been hesitant on installing it and the reason why I bought a new one was because of the 4-2-1 two piece headers seem to install whereas the one pieces don't seem to fit in the aloted space between the block and the radiator. by the way, that edelbrock's header exit has roughly a 2 inch inner diameter.

the collector is at the very end of the header, where it bolts to the cat. if its 2" its prob bc its gonna bolt to a stock cat. a 2.5" collector will require you to either buy a test pipe that will fit it, or just use a jdm type r cat because it was made for the 2.5" collector.

true, but if I have a good header with a smaller collector and it cost me say $50 to make weld on a 2.5" collector, I spent $50. lol no, I am definitely going to be looking into this a bit more but as I see it now, I do not think I'll be looking for a JDM type-r header if they cost this much, Mugen 4-1 Header - B16A - JHPUSA lol!

dc headers usually come with the 2" collector. they make a type r replica header with a 2.5" collector, but its not the same quality as a real type r. the advantage of a real jdm r header is the lower skid plate so it doesnt dent on the bottom, and the upper heat shield that bolts right to it. nothing really wrong with a dc header i gues...its just not the best quality.

This thread has helped me SO much in making a intake/tb/exhaust/header decision in the future
