Question Exhaust Ideas

yeah, I have a 91 integra with a 93 b16a and was looking for some ideas as far as good mufflers, resonators, cats, piping size to put on my car. i dont want a prefabed system, i will be installing a s2 im with a oem itr tb next weekend and was looking to get this exhaust done two weeks after that. other than that, the motor is stock but i am looking towards the future with this exhaust, so, keep that in mind. thanks - nick

apparently, after reading a team-integra.net post on what should and shouldn't be used as far as piping size for certain hp ranges (Advanced Exhaust Tech I - Team Integra), I have come to conclusion that a vehicle making upwards of 210chp should stay around 2.25 inch piping. does this sound right? also, being a man on a mission, I went to magnaflow to look up some 2.25 inch catalytic converters and they're showing a 95005 (2.25 inlet/outlet dia.). that is the easy part though, what is confusing me is the difference between the cali and the 49 state versions. they both seem to flow the same and to top things off, summit racing only sells the california one and shows the non-cali one as discontinued (http://store.summitracing.com/partde...0&autoview=sku). would I be an idiot to go with 2.25 piping and a higher flow 2.25 california catalytic converter, custom bent piping, and say a stock placement flowmaster deltaflow 60 series 2.25 inch muffler?

who cares about a cat converter. get a jdm type r header and cat if u like. thatl solve the problem there. 60mm is a good size for exhaust systems on n/a cars. its 2 and 3/8 inch i believe in us terms. thats what most aftermarket companies do for hondas such as greddy, apexi, hks, etc... youll probably gain more power with the jdm r header/cat than you will with an exhaust system. IMO do both at the same time to get the thing to breathe. i would go no bigger than 2.5" and no smaller than 2.25" . i belive 60mm is right in the middle. thats what im runnin on my ls vtec setup. the bigger motors like the k20/24 and h22/f22 could prob stand larger piping due to the bigger displacement. hope this helped.

^^ y not? if its the old school one its just a copy of the itr manifold. which is a great idea on a stock engine. so is the itr tb. those are all decent bolt ons for stock motors. the next step he could take after that is a decent street or dyno tune. b16's can make good numbers if modded/tuned correctly.

i guess i'm just used to the S2 stuff on the H22, which on a mostly stock engine doesn't do anything, if it doesn't hurt performance

the h22 euro r mani is what i hear is the best for the h22. ive also heard of the s2 stuff losin power with the h series stuff....however i bet with tuning it would gain power on any motor.

yeah, I was looking at 60mm piping before I went to sleep last night. and you're right, most of the aftermarket exhaust systems are mostly 60mm. it only seems right to me to run around that size due to the fact that the throttle body lets in around that much, actually slightly more but I could be wrong on that, lol. I'm definitely going to take my time to see what the deal is with all of them before I buy. now as far as the jdm type-r header, is it a two piece? because if it ain't, it will be nearly impossible to install in on a DA. is there anything comparable to it?
