There are legal and liability issues for eCtune, so the company certainly needs to know who its tuners are so it can stand behind them and the software. It also has structured the business on a licensing model and is entitled to licensing fees.

A forum is a logical place to track down customers who may have been defrauded. The sniping is an unsavory byproduct, but I suspect in the end the goal is accomplished - and to everyone's benefit - by spreading the word about possible past, present and future unauthorized eCtune use or fraud, and to avoid being a part of it.

In my dealings with John Vega, he has been highly knowledgable and above board. I also am aware of him going the extra mile for a lot of people.

As for his detractors, all I would say is that Vega is a pro, and like a lot of pros, he probably does not suffer illmannered fools well. That's a plus for me, as it means I'll never be standing in line behind an illmannered fool when I go to see him.

 

You are correct sometimes the messenger does get the wrong end. I dont see you being a snitch or whatever you wanna call it. I dont know nothing about alpha or Brotherz I cant say anything bad never dealt with them.
Pirating software happens all the time whatver but to tune a customer with crome and charge them a fee eCtune is pathetic if thats what happened. Ive dealt with mtber and he had wonderful customer service and LHT or Vega will do my tune on my coupe when Im ready. Even if you were trying to "weed out competition" business is business thats the way it goes. If a shop or someone operated honestly they wouldnt have to worry about it. I wont make another comment on this because I didnt get a tune form him so it really does not concearn me. Whats in the dark always comes to light.

Seriously. If it were an issue, let Calvin get on here and make a post about it. This is just low blow competition post vega.

Not to mention, no one called you when you claimed to tune Hondata, yet you didn't even have the software or the license or a S200 box for that matter....but on your sig you were tuning them.

Regardless vega, if pirating of the software is an issue, have Calvin come on here and make a post about or his lawyer. Not the competition/vendor.

as an authorized tuner and reseller, i would think that by not saying anything he would be putting himself in danger of legal action and lose his contracts with ectune.

 

No. I have dealt with many business and attorney issues and if vega wants to do it correctly, contact calvin with the issue. It is then Calvins responsibility to get himself/his attorney involved. When Hondata sued Blundar....one of his resellers/authorized tuners/dealers didn't call out blundar or hand him the court payers. Same goes for this situation.

This crap is a mess. I agree that users should be informed if they were paying for a product and not getting it. I'm not on either side but maybe I didnt see something but in ANY reply did the other employees comment about either

A. tuning on a invalid license or
B. using another software but claiming it was something else.

As a tuner you know if your using legit licensing or not. That simple point has not been addressed. All that has been is how one side is saying its being brought up to take away business while the other points out how bad of a person the other is.

I don't care who is who here. The tuner may not know if the payments are going thru but they sure know what software and licensing they have and don't. Other then people getting upset and making this a trash talking the employees/tuners just need to simply say they either were or weren't tuning incorrectly or illegally.

If they weren't then someone prove that they were and obviously from there the owner of ectune needs to file charges and that should be the end of it. It does suck if some users here were under the impression they bought a full license and go somewhere else to find out they don't have what they bought.


All of this can easily be explained if the tuners here explain if they were or were not using the software when they weren't licensed.
