So you're saying your modified LS/Vtec will outlast my 100% OEM Type R? I seriously doubt that. Thats why I bought the ITR motor, the most power from OEM parts. I didn't want to deal with an unreliable car like I had with the modified single cam.

well picture this. u build an ls vtec with all new OEM parts, and upgrade to a vtec water pump and oil pump. then u upgrade the rod bolts like yur supposed to and u now have a brand new motor with stronger rod bolts. and if its put together the right way itl be just as reliable as any other jdm type r out there. the un reliable motors are the ones that are hacked together and corners were cut. o and btw if the golden eagle kit is used the ls vtec will have a better oil plumbing system too. dont believe its more reliable now? its all in assembly. myne is 100% oem and i kno its going to last just as long as any other motor. just because honda put together the motor doesnt make it more reliable than an ls vtec. o ya myne cost less too.

Dont get me wrong, a good LS/VTEC setup is nice and has proven itself countless times but can never compare to a Jdm Type R. IMO all your doing is buying a cheap ls motor and trying to build it up enough to be what is sort of your own home made type r taking parts from different vtec motors to find the right combination for optimal power.

IMO, Honda already put in alot of time and research on the type r motors with alot of hand worked parts. Most of these aftermarket parts you see around are designed almost directly after the OEM parts of a JDM Type R.

Liquid knows his stuff. I'm sure that if I rebuilt my Type R with all oem parts at the exact same time you built your LS/Vtec, I'm still willing to bet that my hand polished, high compression, work of art engine will outlast yours, for the simple reason that all my parts were designed to be in the same engine.

How much did you actually spend building your engine? Including the cost of the LS block and the conversion, installation, parts, labor, everything. I'm willing to bet that if you're near my power output, your price is also pretty close.

I have some pics if you're really interested, but the car is nowhere near selling shape right now. I need a new front end(the current one is extremely ricey), and some paint work done. there are just over 108000 on the chasis, and the swap was done at 107000 with new pumps, belts, etc. I have no idea what I could get for it, but my ballpark was $8k, not bad considering its $4500 KBB and $5000 worth of ITR goodness.

you dont need oem parts to make it last,i use aftermarket and never a problem most people only buy a tyeR motor to say yo i got a typeR,but for the 2K$ more you spend on a typeR to me is not worth it but if your happy with a typeR get it.

did it all myself for under 2k. not to break ur spirits or anything but i gurantee the rods in my setup hold up longer than yours. and while i may not have an lsd tranny or ur type r valve train, my motor will breathe at almost the same level as yours. the only thing type r about it is the pistons (and theyre usdm). im glad ur motor is a work of art. im proud to say that i assembled myne instead of just dropping it in. we can compare dyno numbers if u like .

To each his own. Both motors are great and determining how long a motor will last is partly based upon the driver, how well you take care of it and the build quality.

have any of you ever had a jdm itr? besides omgwtfbbq obviously..
