I personally seen a sohc fully built (minus sleeves and crank) slap down 300whp at 21.5lbs of boost. For the money though the LS (stock) will put you in the low 200whp range with the same amount of boost plus a little more torque(compared to any stock sohc)...LS ftw...but I would personally do the b16 swap and boost.

i have a b16 turbo in the rex. i love it. BUT..... i do not like the b16 tranny at all and plan on getting a gsr tranny soon. the b16 gears are way too short. i run at 5,000 rpm's on the highway at only 70 mph in 5th gear. it sucks.

ouch......

im not 100% sure on the turbo size yet...
or even if i wanna buy whole kit or peice together one, i mean i kinda wanna jus buy one, whatever i do i want to do it right , ya know...
i dont wanna be at the track or racing someone and lose or run shitty times and be like damn, i should have jus bought the whole kit ya know...

but im leaning towards the greddy kit, they run for like 2k and i think are only missing an intercooler and bov flange..

but i think i wanna run a t3/t4....

greddy makes a good kit and so does edelbrock....infact the single cam edelbrock kit comes with a gt28r (correct me if im wrong) one of their intake manifolds, and all the necessary parts for a nice sohc platform on boost.....lht is also a good place to consider for turbos.

I got LS in mine, ls head too and I have a lot of fun. No boost yet but when I do my rebuild I will definitely be going Turbooo!! I like it, but SI SOHC is definitely nice.

So put LS 5th gears in it. Why do you people make things so difficult.

Well just to let you all know the gsr cable and b16 cable trannies are basically identical in gearing. My buddy has a gsr tranny in his DA and I have a b16 tranny in my EF and at 70mph im at like 4grand and he is at like 3800 but My geuss is that our tachs could be off a little too which would probably put us at identical rpms at the same given speed.

no your about right with the 5th gear ratio....its about the same. but trust me ive driven my car which has a b16 tranny and my buddys car with a gsr tranny and can definately tell a difference between 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gears on the thing. the shorter gears make for better acceleration and between shifts since ur at a higher rpm it puts u in more of the meat of the power band. and if ur mostly a city driver (like me) the b16 tranny isnt so bad.
