The ls transmission is only marginally better than the tranny mated to the y8.

The ls also has weak synchros, and a weak final.

not sure y everyone seems to think the ls tranny is better.....so ur 3rd gear will pull to 100 mph big woop. i hated my ls tranny!. ls gear ratios suck. doesnt matter if u are running boost, spray, n/a, whatever....

from my perspective, if hes gonna drop 1500 extra dollars on a swap he might as well get a b16 and boost that since its got the best gear ratios of the bunch. ive stated my opinion tho. drop the 1500 into the single cam internals, boost it, tune it, call it a day. END RANT.

yea money isnt really an issue... i mean im not rich, but i have a job and only a couple of bills.....
the car is my daily also...
but i wanna go for about 250-300 whp.
i figure i can achieve that on a built LS block shootin about 10-15 psi?
does that sound right..

It depends on the turbo...What Turbo are you going to run?

If your looking to build an LS and only make 300whp, you should just build the Y8. You can get the same amount of power for a lot less money.

If you plan on, or think you might want to upgrade later on for more power. Then just start with the LS.

If this is your daily driver you dont really want a fully built single cam... Single cams are more likely to detonate lol where as an LS obviously can handle the power it makes and sum... not to mention the posibilities u have for future mods such as the Head and Tranny Upgrades, spend the extra on the LS, you'll be slower than a built singlecam but only for a while lol oh and dont drive it like an asshole and have to replace everything on the motor before u can do anything to it... jus my thoughts...

fully built if its done right will b light years better than any stock ls setup...hence the terms FULLY BUILT! there are plenty of single cams puttin down 400+ that are reliable daily drivers.

to answer your question though yes you will make 250-300 on a built ls at 10-15 pounds. but it also depend a lot on how well its tuned, turbo size, intercooler setup, turbo mani, etc.....theres a lot of factors when trying to predict an acutal hp number. but its a guarantee that anything fully built will hold up better than anything stock.
