sohc boost vs ls boost?
im probably going LS but i wanted to see what yall thought about it...
LS theres alot more options. and prob less stress on it since it dohc...
plus way more torque...

For 1500 you could build the HELL out of a sohc and make well over 350 hp. Or you can have a stock ls that could snap a rod anyday at the same power.
Besides that, the d16 with a longer stroke will make more tq down low than the b's for the same hp. If you have them oney go with the ls, but build it as well. If youve only got that extra 1500, use your y8..upgrade the oil pump (or modify it, y8's have oiling issues) and go kick some dohc ass.

i really dont see how opting for the sohc over the dohc as the starting platform for power makes any sense.
if your over-all goal is to make the most power "mod for mod", and the b can be built to make more than the d can be built for, it really isnt a damn question.
its like; "i wanna make money off investing! but i want to start with 30 cents in the account instead of 100 dolars."

i would say ls for all reasons everybody else did plus: A ls tranny will kill any d series tranny when it comes to boost. pound for pound you can add lsd to either tranny but the ls has the better gear ratio. id say buy a ls swap and you will be open for alot more power later. hell you can boost and spray on a ls tranny. just my 2 cents.
Right..but if you power goals are 400> you can do it cheaper with the sohc.
