And they really suck if you ever have to drive on the highway. Put a lsd equipped b16 and a usdm ITR gearbox in the same car, and noone on here would be able to tell the difference. i promise.
if shorter gears dont have anything to do with a final drive, then tell me why when u put a type r or a gsr final drive in a ls tranny, the gears shorten up? the final drive helps in how short the gears are. if you dont understand how gears work then dont say anything about it. the more teeth on ur final drive, the shorter ur gears will be (providing the teeth on the rest of the regular gears remains the same).

you are right that the 4.7 final drive is not in ALL type r's. and putting a lsd b16 tranny in would be the same as a us type r tranny. BUT, the 4.7 final drive of the jdm type r tranny's DOES shorten up the gears ALOT! no one would tell the difference in the lsd b16 and the us type r tranny bc they have gear ratios that are very similar if not the same.

it just means you have a short final drive. thats it. short gears just refer to the rpm drop between shifts. obviously you do not know how gears work, or you wouldnt get so defensive. I was just pointing out an error or two I saw. I never said anyone didnt know (anything) about (anything). we seem to be getting off topic.

btw I saw today that the only diff. in gearing between a us b16 and us ITR box is the 5th gear.

a stock ls/vtec with stock ls block, b16 head, stock b16 ecu, stock exhaust manifold, stock exhaust, and b16 cams pulled a 140.2hp and 116.2 tq. and a usdm gsr with i/h/e pulled a 149.5 hp and 121.1tq all on the link above. just take note on the torque curve and the HP spike when vtec kicks in

keep in mind thats also an ls vtec running 9.5:1 compression (thats what it comes out to with stock ls pistons and a b16 head). give it a bump in compression, and the gsr with i/h/e is toast. higher compression will aslo create a larger spike when vtec pops since vtec is basically a race cam. larger cams like more compression.....also while ur at that site, take a look at the differences in power between the b16 and gsr heads. that site is VERY informative as far as possible power numbers go with different part combinations. also keep in mind most of this stuff was done in the early 2000's.....tuning has advanced greatly since then!

I could talk all night about what Ive built and what Ive driven and where ive driven it...I was finally wrong about something. The whole final drive comment. my apologies to sleepinsol. Its hard not to sound like a dick when I really am one. I really didnt do any research like you all said, I know this stuff, just an idiot moment

p.s. about the ls pistons dont have domes comment, just to clarify so I dont sound like a dick anymore they may not have domes, but they will still hit, I belive almost all honda 4 cly engines are interference.
