h22 is not worth it i dont think, sure the engine has hp and tq but the amount of work and money isnt worth it, stock suspension is not gonna be efficent with the extra weight up front. mounts axles and swap gonna run 3g easy, then wiring and cross member, and the time to install teh prelude shifter box and cables, not to mention the fact that the engine so damn big installing from up top will be a bitch. just go w/ a b series

I like the H22 ek coupe I built for the wifey. It wasn't my motor of choice but it was less to replace the H22 engine that was in it than to get a B-motorset.

drivability is ok on coilovers but I can see how understeer would have most people disapprove on the H swap.

I am in the process of making the powersteering and a/c work again, also for daily driving it's highway driving is great (low rpm and and lots of speed left for fun)

have any of you actually driven a h22 civic? my roomate has an h22 00 si and i have driven it from Connecticut to Florida and drive it daily. id say go for the swap. anyone that has driven one of these cars will tell you the same thing, yes more difficult than a b-series, but well worth it. of course you get a little bit of understeer but you can still throw the car around corners no problem and having a civic with some decent torque is well worth the swap headaches. i suggest rywire.com for all your wiring needs. you send them your harness and h22 harness and they send you errything you need plug and play.

if its heavier wouldn't it put more load on the front tires and still have more power to weight then a B16 stock?

since most people here care about straight line i don't see a downfall except maybe the trans, but you can change gears out, mario's H22 EG is quick as hell, and his frankenstein was even crazier

plus the type-s cam is perfect for turbo, you don't need to get different cams, and with the new...ish mahle gold pistons you don't have to resleeve

i'd say go for it, you already have the common car, go for the uncommon swap, besides, you can stroke to 2.6 too

HERE ARE THE FACTS!!!

H = 123lb short block
B = 104lb short block

H trans = 96lbs
B trans = 90lbs

H = 190 @ 6800 rpm & 152 lb/ft @ 5500 rpm
B= at the least 160 @ 7600 rpm & 111 lb/ft @ 7000 rpm depending upon version.

The difference ends up being about 35 lbs for a complete swap because the head is about 10lbs heavier. BUT the H22 is a closed deck engine (very good thing) and it DOES NOT have balance shafts (8lbs) SOOOOO the new total difference is about 27lbs. So Jake you're right in saying what you did.....But you're an asshole who thinks he knows it all. I provided facts to prove my own theory was WRONG!! I admit it......but still think you're a moron who didnt provide facts to prove a damn thing you said. So dont worry kid...I did it for you. I admit I was wrong but not because of your useless bable....but because of the facts that I found.
