Depends on how they are cut. Cutting coils also increases spring rate.
Most people don't know what they are doing anyway. Since they don't know how to do something, They usually spend too much to buy incompatible parts,

not trying to hack anything some might ridden in a jetta with neuspeed race springs that was cut and it was stiff as hell. one time we went over a railroad track and the the guys motorized flip down radio fell down, was going at normal speeds. want to do it right at first and do not have to worry bout much.
