if i wanna make REAL POWER n/a on a d-series....
thx guys. i might just go turbo after all. whats the most psi i can run safely on a d series stock internals that will give me a little pep and still be reliable as a daily driver.

It's all in the tuning, but the max I would go with a perfect tune is 12 psi. I have seen some D16z6 putting down impressive numbers on stock blocks and 15psi, but they don't last too long. 10 psi is good for a daily, or you can use a dual stage boost controller, keep it 6-7 daily and 10-11 as a high boost setting only one push of the button away.
I'm tuned at 14 psi low boost and 20 psi high boost on the WRX. All I have to do is hit the button if needed.
Also one thing to consider is that 10psi on a junkyard T3 and 10 psi on a brand new turbo, will give you different numbers. Also the trim size of a turbo will affect spool up time and air volume going into the engine.
But 10 psi on a completely stock block with good tune you should hit around 200whp

Keep in mind, different turbos make different power at different boost levels according to VE. You want to start by selecting the right turbo for your motor/goals/power potential/cost. The most you can get away with [reliably] on the stock SOHC bottom end is around 175-200hp depending on the TUNER and fuel setup. List what goals you're motivated to achieve (ET and/or Power) and we can help you choose the right turbo. From there you choose everything else.

Wow, that Texas guy is full of shit, and his tuner should be shot on site.
450cc injectors are good for around 300whp. +/- 5%
880cc injectors would be more along the lines of 600whp.
The reason you don't go with TOO big of injectors to start out with? Because it makes tuning the car more painful.
If your goal is to make 250whp. Go with some RC 440 injectors and leave it at that. You have room to grow if you want to up the boost a little, and you also have the safety net of not running your injectors at a high duty cycle. Personally, I've never once had a flow issue with a DSM 450 injector. Sure, some people have, But no one I know. You could always get them cleaned and tested by RC if you were that worried about it. On a side note, generally, it's the resistors used with the DSM injectors that make them unreliable. Get a good low tolerance precision resistor set, and you won't have to worry so much about it. (or a resistor box in good condition)
Either way, your "tuner" is a fucking loon. Probably gets a good deal on those 880cc injectors and sells them at a premium.
